Euler Hermes Rating publishes methodology for renewable energy project ratings

The project rating methodology (renewable energy) published on 3 April 2018 is a specification of the project rating methodology (general) and replaces the project rating methodology of September 2014. This revised methodology is aimed at improving the transparency of Euler Hermes Rating’s approach to renewable energy project ratings. The revised methodology did not result in any changes to rating criteria, weightings or assessment guidelines and will therefore not lead to any changes to rating notations that were based on the September 2014 project rating methodology.

Essential Elements

  • The areas of analysis are differentiated by project and financial risk.
  • The weighting of the two risk profiles is based on the EHR-rating matrix, which is published as a key ele-ment of the project rating methodology (renewable energy).
  • Additional influences from operational risks and the public sector that are relevant to the rating are taken into account via modifications.

The feedback provided by market participants in response to the “Request for Comments” published between January and February 2018 has confirmed the pertinence and acceptance of the revisions and not resulted in any adjustments to the final version of the methodology.
